The stage was set ablaze with dances, drama and social messages as Carmel Convent School, BHEL celebrated its Golden Jubilee on the 25th of November 2017. A massive crowd of over 13,000 audience thronged the school grounds to witness this carnival of rhythm, beauty and flare. 2000 students from all classes right from KG I to the 12th participated in a plethora of acts and dances, dressed in the most vibrant and dramatic costumes possible.
The program commenced with gratitude to the Almighty and invoking His grace and blessing through a heartwarming song by the School Choir and an angelic prayer dance, as was befitting in keeping with the School’s values and virtue.
The evening was inaugurated by the auspicious lighting of the Jubilee Lamp by the luminaries invited. The theme of the Golden Jubilee was “Enlightened to Excel”. An entire gamut of emotion ran through the crowd inspired by the acts and dances performed that evening focusing on the journey of the Indian women- from ashes to the stars, hailing the pioneers of the School and their immense contribution towards women empowerment. An awe inspiring dance on cultural unity amidst the existing diversity of India was also presented with great aplomb. The Grand Finale with the aerial act and the different styles of dances brought together on one stage, was the highlight of the evening, which left the audience mesmerized and awestruck.
The school report was presented on Science and Technology, Commerce, Social Service, Arts, NCC, Girls Guide, School Band & Sports and Games. The achievements of students in various fields over these 50 years was showcased on the LED through photographs and on stage through a mélange of subject focused acts, performed by the students.
There were rousing addresses made by the State Minister for School & Technical Education – Shri Deepak Joshi, Archbishop of Archdiocese - Most Rev. Dr. Leo Cornelio, Shri Alok Sanjar – Member of Parliament, Shri Surjeet Singh Chouhan – Chairman BMC and Shri. D.K. Thakur – Executive Director, BHEL and Sr. Noel- Provincial Superior Mount Carmel province, which were a true inspiration for the students of the school.
It was an occasion marked by the presence of many dignitaries, sister, ex-students as well as pioneers who had flown in from not different parts of India but also across the globe to participate in celebrating Carmel’s milestone 50th year.
The evening was closed with a brilliant and heartwarming vote of thanks by the School Captain and release of innumerable, vibrant balloons in the air accompanied with a display of eclectic fireworks followed by the National Anthem as a tribute of respect to our country and our compatriots.
