In the prestigious 45th Jawaharlal Nehru mathematics and Environment fair 2018 held at Ahmadabad from 23rd to 28th Nov 2018. Two students from Carmel Convent Sr. Sec. School , BHEL namely Priya Agrawal and Yashfeen Fatima of class IX represented the School and the state with their unique and innovative model ‘Verticoponics, under the able guidance of Mrs. Madhumita Majumdar.
This low cost model demonstrate a amalgamation of vertical farming and aquaponics. Verticoponics a method of farming which uses the natural waste from the fish ponds a fertilizer. The Scientific Principle involved in nitrification. Which involves the renewal of ammonia from fish water and using for cultivation of plants.
The model was appreciated thoroughly by all .The Principal Sr. Anupa was extremely pleased on the achievement of the students and applauded their hard work and she also encouraged them to do even better the next time.
