2 Day Seminar on Topic - Counseling and Psychoeducation held at Carmel BHEL
Social work wing of Mt. Carmel Bhopal organised a two day seminar ( 23rd&24th September22) on "Counseling and Psycho-education" for teachers as well as social workers of the province under the leadership of Social Work Councillor Sr. Rosy Thomas. and Resource person for the seminar was Dr father Antony Nirappelle(Fr. Joby) PhD in psychology.
After the opening ceremony, the training program started with an ice breaking session followed by self- introduction. The session was based on learning the importance of mental health, how basic counselling should be done and different steps of counselling , how the environment should be built, managed , and how it is to be maintained. What should be the relationship between a counselor and client , also the basic arrangements for the counselling process to run smoothly. All this was very well explained with illustrations followed by an interactive session to the different problems teachers are facing especially in the classrooms , with the students and in our families .
It was an enriching experience to learn about steps of counselling that how important it is to improve the psychological behavior of a particular person specially our students of different age groups who are teenagers or infants and the importance of counselling for them in the daily life so that we can understand the basic problem faced by our students.
Post lunch session showcased a movie "Dear Zindagi" as a case study to see how process of counselling starts , For example rapport building , trust gaining, and how to improve and finally how to send the process , what all different process accounts should be followed for the counseling process so that desired results could be obtained.
The second day of the counselling session started with an introduction about psychological behaviour disorders and their different types. Different types of psychological diseases which people are suffering nowadays especially split personality disorder , psychosis etc .
How to manage such people and what are the important steps to be taken on an emergency basis on dealing with such kinds of people . To detect whether a person's problem is a personality disorder or psychosis or a general phobia and how to deal with such cases . What are the important measures which we should take, how to identify such people and whether that particular kind of person and their need for treatment, special support , love and care . Love, care and support are the three most important requisites to treat any kind of psychological disorder which people suffer from, especially because of stress and tension or any other family issues.
Day ended with a movie as a case study to understand how a person who is mentally or psychologically ill can go to an extreme level can even kill a person and put himself into trouble and how counseling at the right time and in the right way Cassavetes one's life .
