On
November 22, 2024, an educational excursion was organized to Sanchi by the
Regional Museum of History in collaboration with the Archaeological Survey of
India. The event was led by Manoj Kumar Kurmi, the Head Superintendent
Scientist, along with Mrs. Seema Tiwari, Deputy Superintendent, and Mr.
Maniklal Gupta, Head of the Regional Museum of History, Bhopal. The excursion
included attendees Ms. Aditi Shukla and Mrs. Meet Baijal from Carmel Convent,
with the support of Principal Sister Ann Joicy.The trip provided an enriching
learning experience as we explored the historical significance of the Sanchi
Stupa. We delved into the intricate carvings and their deeper meanings as they
relate to the Jataka tales. Our visit included three stupas, where we gained
insights into their historical relevance and acknowledged the contributions of
esteemed archaeologists, particularly Cunningham, who significantly advanced
the preservation and development of this remarkable site. The excursion aimed
to raise awareness among the youth about world heritage and enhance their
understanding of natural sciences. Overall, the experience was immensely
rewarding. All participants were also awarded certificates in recognition of
their involvement.
