An impressive building which greets a visitor at the entrance of the sprawling BHEL complex at Bhopal is the prestigious Carmel Convent Sr. Sec. School - a luminous star in the galaxy of schools orbiting the Bhopal sky. Founded in 1968, it has spanned over three decades of dedicated educational service to the city of Bhopal and the state of Madhya Pradesh.
Carmel Convent was founded on 3rd July 1968 by the Sisters of the Congregation of Mother of Carmel, a religious and charitable organization for women and children. They had been invited by the then Arch Bishop of Bhopal, Rt. Rev. Dr. Eugene DSouza on the request of the BHEL Management to set up a good educational institute in the newly established BHEL Township.
The school as it stands today is a self sufficient, stately and promising institute. A glance at the milestones covered is ample evidence of the heights the school has scaled through the years.
If Carmel Convent Sr.Sec. School is today, proud of being an educational institution renowned for forming young girls of competence arid conscience it is mainly due to the untiring and dedicated service of a team of earnest and devoted personnel. Their sense of responsibility and loyalty, devotion to duty, spirit of co operation, deep concern for every individual student and a personal touch in everything they do, has tremendously contributed to create an ambience congenial to successful learning and fostering a harmonious and cordial relationship between the staff and the students.
